Like a filmmaker, a profession in which he worked many years ago, Vytautas Tomasevivius explores scenes in counter-fields. He paints a snapshot of two points of view that meet on his canvas. He creates a paradox, a surprising image that questions and challenges the observer.
The background he first draws with graphite is a saturated image, steeped in history and memory. The fragmented rendering makes it possible to see the vibration of the elongating seconds, a fixed shot. The landscape thus stretches over a long time, standardized by a pastel color, an expression of a past time.
Vytautas then sets the graphite lightly colored with a matt varnish. It is with acrylic that he paints the counter-fields, the vitality. The change of point of view is brought by the use of aerosol and bright and mixed colors.
