On March 16th, the doors of the Gallery closed for an indefinite period, like all cultural places and all other spaces not necessary for the survival of the population.

For a few moments, I asked myself the question of the meaning of art, of its usefulness. I doubted. Then I thought about all the artists, what their work had meant to me for almost 20 years. The wonder, the provocation, the social bond, the vision of tomorrow, the commitment, the creativity, the intelligence, the laughter, the melancholy ... The Sharing.

I worried about them - and they about me - like my relatives.

Yes, we are confined, while others work to heal, to maintain a semblance of activity. No, we will not sit idly by watching this virus spread and decimate part of the population. We will continue to create and share; we will try to make sense of what we are going through, to question our ways of living, to give hope and pleasure, to imagine a responsible tomorrow.

Art is a vector of social bond, it creates a big family across borders and this family I care about, like all of you.

Géraldine Banier

During the coming weeks, the artists' works will be published as they are produced on this site..
